Ledger Looking Back 25 Years: 4/19/2000

Whitehall Town Council and the mayor will search for up to $50,000 from existing budgets to beef up the paving project. The Whitehall Street paving project will begin as early as June 9, and the Whitehall Town Council will soon finalize a plan and a budget that outlines which town streets will be paved or resealed.

WHS Creative Leader of the Week: Travis Henningsen. His portrayal of Willy Blossom in the spring play Approaching Zanzibar has earned him Creative Leader of the Week. Travis, a sophomore, was nominated by drama director Larry Brazill. He is the son of Bob and Elaine Henningsen, and plans on continuing in drama throughout high school and then in college at MSU. Travis also enjoys playing the guitar.

WHS Student of the Week: Keely Sacry. Teacher Rod Stout says, "Keely pays particular attention to detail, which shows an excellent work ethic on all her assignments, which reflects her outstanding grade. She also brings a great attitude and sense of humor to class each day." Freshman Keely is the daughter of Kerry and Karen Sacry and enjoys tennis, basketball, volleyball, and working.

WHS Athlete of the week: Derek Dean. He took third in the triple jump, fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, and ran a leg of Whitehall's 1600-meter relay team. "Derek had a great overall performance in Bozeman," said the head track coach, Mike Battaiola. Derek, a junior, is the son of Howard and Judy Dean and plays basketball and football.
