Dear Editor,
"Our Constitution was made for only a moral and religious people." - John Adams
Convincing the masses that the fairy tale economy (where reckless spending without consequences) is over is probably not going to occur. Desperate for the security of the status quo is why those on the losing end of this fantasy are angry and very vocal.
While it's not without compassion that one can consider the struggle that lies before them to regain their financial security, it comes down to the harsh reality that borrowing on the credit of future generations will never pencil out. Why? Because interest on debt consumes productivity that doesn't exist.
Reality is a disciplined teacher who cares little for one's feelings. All citizens need to realize that many of the affected souls have been lied to by an education system that has been engineered exactly for this purpose: enslavement to the self-professed elite that looks down on the "deplorable" common sense people of America.
While massive layoffs and budget cuts of government directly affect government employees, they also affect many down the supply chain of private entities and government services.
People of goodwill must rise to the occasion and understand that this is exactly what bankruptcy and restructuring look like. It's time to restore the model of government our founding fathers gave us: a Constitutional Republic and a moral compass to enforce and protect it. A real economy measures productivity, not fairy tales.
