Clifford Dean Miller, 76, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Caldwell, Idaho.
Dean was born on June 7, 1948, to Homer and Selma Miller in Whitehall, Montana. He went by his middle name, Dean. He was the third oldest child out of seven children. He attended Cardwell Grade School and Whitehall High School, graduating in 1967. He missed one year of high school due to an accidental gunshot wound to his right leg. He suffered from the aftereffects of this gunshot his whole life.
Dean worked many jobs throughout his life. From an almond orchard in Modesto, CA, to Coors Brewing in Golden, CO, Dean proved he could do anything he needed to do to earn a living. He moved back to Montana, earned his CDL permit, and drove over the road for Franich Trucking in Whitehall and Northern Routes Trucking in Bozeman. He retired from hauling milk for Simplot and Ruan Trucking after more than 25 years in Caldwell, ID.
Dean had a gentle and kind soul. After retirement, he worked part-time as a driver, transporting disabled people to appointments and sheltered workshops. He was his clients’ favorite driver. He was very proud of the service he provided.
He did not need the finer things in life to get by. Dean enjoyed talking on his ham radio, trying new electronic devices, and riding his 4-wheeler. The over-the-road driver spirit never left him, and he loved taking trips to visit his siblings. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Homer and Selma Miller, and his older sister, Dannysue VonDuyke.
Surviving are brothers Wade (Nancy) Miller of Casa Grande, AZ; Jim (Ginger) Miller of Whitehall, MT; and Robert (Maureen) Martin of Cardwell, MT; sisters Marlene (Don) Hunt of Billings, MT; Kathy (Jack) Jensen, of Walla Walla, WA; brother-in-law Tom VonDuyke of Broomfield, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The burial will be in the South Boulder Cemetery. Per Dean’s request, he did not want to have a funeral or a memorial service. A private family gravesde service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of one’s choice.
