Whitehall Middle School eighth graders interviewed long-time residents for class projects and enjoyed learning what Whitehall residents recall.

When did your family get their first television? What did you do on weeknights after homework? What did you do on weekends? What has changed the most about entertainment in your life? These were just some questions the eighth graders asked for their English assignment.

Each student interviewed a person of their choice; nine of the interviewees had more extensive interviews videotaped in the Whitehall Varsity Gym on Wednesday, February 16. Students were required to write an essay based on the videos; coordinators hoped these interviews would develop into live performances.

WHS CREATIVE LEADER OF THE WEEK: Krista Hanson. She had an excellent performance at the Montana State Thespian Festival in Missoula. Drama director Larry Brazil said Krista's performance earned her an outstanding performance award. Krista, a senior, is the daughter of Tom and Sandi Salvagni.

WHS STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Ed Raisor. Teacher Charles Peterson says, "Ed shows so much cooperation with the students and adults in the classroom...he is so helpful in organizing classroom activities. He shows compassion and empathy for others." Ed, a junior, is the son of Ed Raisor, Sr., and plans to become a mechanic. He enjoys music and computer games.

WHS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Natasha Momsen. She is a Lady Trojan volleyball outside hitter who, in the last two matches, had six kills, eight aces, four blocks, and 15 digs. "Her passing is unbelievable. She is one of the best passers in our conference," said coach Theresa Adams. Natasha, the daughter of Wayne and Jean Momsen, has been nominated to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
