GEORGIA, I have a question,
I (25F) am the youngest of four; the rest of my siblings are all married, two of them have kids. I have one child with my ex and two with my fiance. My fiance (29m) is the oldest of three; his two sisters are not married and do not have kids.
We have our wedding planned for July. Ever since we told his family, they have been planning nonstop. They literally have vision boards made up at their house, without my opinions or anything. My mother-in-law bought her dress already in a VERY light gold color. Whenever I see her, allshe does is talk about her dress, what kind of shoes she’s going to wear, and more.
His two sisters are my bridesmaids. They have already been dress shopping - without me. I thought the bride was at least supposed to go with the bridesmaids? The dresses they chose aren’t even close to the colors I had been envisioning, but no one has asked me for input. I understand they’re excited, but I feel like they are borderline overstepping and planning my wedding without me.
Then my family - I’m the last to get married. So I feel like they just could not care less. They don’t ask about anything. I feel like an annoyance whenever I bring up the wedding.
I’m an extreme introvert. I hate confrontation and I am on the fence about letting them know that this is really bothering me. Am I a bridezilla for thinking this way? I just feel like they’re making this wedding about them and I’m not feeling special at all.
PUSHED BRIDE
Dear PUSHED,
I wouldn’t have signed this PUSHED if I were in your position...I feel BULLDOZED is more appropriate...or STEAM-ROLLED! You are ABSOLUTELY not a Bridezilla because you want to make the decisions of your own wedding! You need to talk with your fiance, as this needs to be stopped immediately, as it may carry over into your marriage even after the wedding.
With love, GEORGIA
