GEORGIA, I have a question,
I work in a small office with just a few people. I get along with everyone and even feel like I’ve made lifelong friends there. However, my boss is terribly forgetful. So, it usually takes a while to get out of something at the office. We recently ran out of toilet paper. After a few times of asking my boss to get more, I broke down and brought my own, which I bring in and out of the bathroom when I need it.
The other day, my coworker approached me and asked if they could use my toilet paper. I’m already annoyed by having to bring my own, so I won’t let someone else use it and go through it faster, so I said no. I also pointed out a couple of stores within reasonable walking distance where they could purchase some. Or, better yet, get the boss to buy some! But, in retrospect, I feel a little bad. Should I have let her use my TP?
MINE!
Dear MINE,
Well, yes and no would be my answer. When I need to go - I must go NOW, so walking to the store for some would be out of the question. Maybe tell them the need to get their own AFTER the first time they use some - because I’m sure you would hate to be in the same position. You have thought ahead of the problem, but some don’t.
Also, maybe be the office hero and buy a case of TP for the office, then give the receipt to the boss for reimbursement.
With love, GEORGIA
