Between the Stacks: 2/5/2025

The Whitehall Community Library's Cupid Crew is gearing up for our annual Valentine's delivery on February 14th. If you have a senior who would love a long-stemmed rose for Valentine's Day, please call us at 287-3763 to get on the list. Last year, we almost ran out, so an additional 50 roses were ordered for the Cupid Crew program. This program provides roses for seniors at no cost to the library; our volunteers deliver them. The 21st Century program teamed up with us this year and made cards and bookmarks to accompany the flowers. It is a sweet way to remember our older citizens who often are alone on this holiday.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Thursday, February 6th at 5 PM. They will be planning their annual Volunteer Tea to thank the many volunteers of all ages who help the library do many projects, programs, and book processing steps. If you want to join the Friends, just attend the meeting. It is a great way to meet new people and discover new ways to help the Library.

I had a rather dreadful case of the senior brain when I did the February calendars. The new Teen History Book Club will meet at 1 PM on February 21st instead of 2 PM. The book club is for any student aged 12 and up who loves history and reading about different time periods through novels.

The Robotics class has grown so much that it takes two people to help everyone. I have a fair amount of talent, but being in two places at once is not one of them. If you are interested, please call the library at 287-3763 so we know how many books to order.

The library will be closed on Monday, February 17th, for President's Day. We will be open for regular hours the rest of the week.

The Homeschool Mom's Night Out is on the calendar for February 20th at 6 PM. If you are homeschooling your children or planning on homeschooling, this is a chance to meet other families and discuss things unique to home education. We will meet in the library's basement, and of course, there will be snacks!

The staff is going to be busy this week processing new books. We have a huge order coming in, including many new bestsellers, children's books, and young adult series! Watch for them coming soon.
