As we continue to navigate the post-pandemic world, healthcare innovations have emerged to meet the evolving needs of our communities. Among these, telehealth services have stood out as a pivotal advancement, offering efficient and accessible treatment options. Intermountain Health Whitehall Clinic - Physical Therapy is proud to announce the introduction of telehealth appointments, improving how we deliver care to our patients.
Telehealth uses available technologies to allow patients to connect virtually with their healthcare providers, clinicians and physical and occupational therapists, for diagnosis, prognosis, and interventions. This could be via a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Traditionally, physical therapy is known for its hands-on approach. However, there are numerous instances where telehealth can be just as effective and more cost-efficient for our patients. With the goal of empowering patients to be independent and responsible for their care, telehealth offers an excellent means for therapists to check in with patients in their home environments, ensuring compliance with home programs and providing greater access to care.
A young mother unable to find childcare could now receive care in her home through telehealth visits. A patient with chronic respiratory issues might find that virtual check- ins, combined with occasional in-person appointments, enhances their treatment success. The flexibility of telehealth allows a more patient-centered plan of care. Our clinic is excited to offer these appointments to our community and surrounding areas.
In most cases, the first appointment may be in-person with the therapist. This allows for a complete evaluation to establish a plan of care. Depending on the plan, the next visit could be a “check-in” via telehealth to review questions and discuss your progress. As always, this will be determined with careful discussion between you and your therapist. The following appointments could include both in-person and virtual appointments. Research compiled over the last four years has seen high satisfaction and success among patients using this hybrid method.
Telehealth visits require an internet connection and access to MyChart, our organization’s secure electronic system. We are ready to assist our patients in setting this up, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition to telehealth services. We look forward to providing this new service to our community.
