Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Whitehall Community Library patrons may have noticed the construction in the library this last week; Ron Jung and friends are building an office for Miss Brandi and myself to put all of our projects, computers, paperwork, and other supplies in. This will allow us privacy in online training sessions when talking to patrons and in meetings. The rest of the staff is thrilled to have the desk space open for their book processing, reserves, craft projects, and donation sorting.
Teresa Young will paint a beautiful mural on the wall facing the children's section, full of magical creatures in an enchanted forest! Our next project is to put a bathroom downstairs so our crafting children will not have to come through the library covered in glitter, glue, paint, and anything else we use during storytime. Thank you so much to the Wisner Family Foundation for making these improvements happen!!
The Library Cupid Crew will deliver roses to our seniors on Valentine's Day. Please let us know if you know of a senior who would like to receive a long-stemmed rose. We will also deliver to the Whitehall Senior Center and Meadowlark Manor. The flowers will be here either the 13th or 14th of February and will be delivered that day. The 21st Century Program students will make cards to accompany the roses, so sign up today!
Our Veteran's Service officer, Tim Colvin, will be here Wednesday, January 29th, at 1:30 PM to talk to any veteran and family member who wants information on different issues, agencies, assistance, and more. If you want to make an appointment, call Tim at 1-406-551-7855 so he can schedule his time here. Tim is a veteran with a unique understanding of veterans' problems and challenges. There is no cost to talk to Tim; he wants to connect with any veteran needing assistance.
The February calendars are finished and are available at the front desk. We are adding a Teen History Book Club and continuing the Folk Art Painting class. The Mystery Reading Contest will continue through the winter; there is still time to pick up your reading sheet.
Our staff and volunteers are making a valiant effort to keep the sidewalks clear of snow and ice, but the wind is re-covering everything! Please be careful when entering the library from the north side, as the wind keeps blowing the snow back across that walkway. The front sidewalks are clear; if you have mobility issues or slide on everything like I do, you may want to use the west-side sidewalks.
