Dona Jean Wallace, 91

Dona Jean Wallace, 91, of Bozeman, passed away on July 24, 2024, at a local care facility. A Celebration of Life was held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 24th, at Dahl Funeral & Cremation Service in Bozeman.

Dona was born on January 2, 1933, in Townsend, MT, to Howard and Ruby (Olson) Wallace. She graduated from Montana State College with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and later returned to obtain her Master of Education. Dona worked at Whitehall High School as a physical education teacher. She would go on to work as a professor of physical education at the University of Western Montana, where she was also able to pursue her passion for golf, fly fishing, cross-country skiing, women's softball, basketball, and volleyball. She will forever be remembered for her coaching over the years. Dona was also a very active supporter of the Montana State University women's athletic programs.

Dona is preceded in death by her father, Howard; mother, Ruby; brother, Robert "Bobby"; sisters, Shirley, Laura, Mary Jane "Janie" and Sally. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Wallace, and sister, Elizabeth "Bette" Moore.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Montana Western Foundation, supporting the areas Dona was most passionate about in women's athletics - basketball, softball, and volleyball.
