Grant Godbolt, a Forest Service District Ranger in Whitehall for nine years, will be moving to a new job within the Forest Service, interim Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest supervisor Larry Timchak said. Godbolt, who has served as the Jefferson District Ranger on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest since October 1990, confirmed he is looking elsewhere for employment within the Forest Service.
The Whitehall School Board, at its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 1, voted to require all school trips to comply with existing school policy, voted to expand the area searched during sweeps for narcotics to include the parking lot, and accepted the resignation of head football coach Mike Battaiola.
Whitehall High School Student of the Week was Erin Olind, nominated by English II teacher Rod Stout. Mr. Stout states, "Erin has shown an exceptional work ethic in class and does outstanding work." Erin is the daughter of John and Bonnie Olind and is a sophomore at WHS. She enjoys basketball, volleyball, and riding horses.
Whitehall High School Athlete of the Week was senior 105-pound wrestler Josh Trudgeon. Josh pinned all three opponents and took the 105-pound title at the Cascade wrestling tournament. He took third at state last year and is one of the Trojan team leaders. Josh is the son of Fred and Charlotte Trudgeon.
WHS Creative Leader of the Week was Bill Battaiola. Choir director Mary Brazill said, besides a great voice, "Bill has a great attitude...he works hard and is always cheerful." Bill is a senior and the son of Mike and Patty Battaiola. College plans are in his future, and he enjoys sports and hiking.
