The annual Whitehall Christmas Stroll festivities were set for Friday, Dec. 3, and several special Stroll events were planned for participants and shoppers. The Stroll, sponsored by the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce and made possible by the volunteer work of Chamber members, town merchants, and others, officially kicks off the commercial holiday season in Whitehall.

The newly formed American Legion Post No. 132 members in Whitehall held their first meeting. Richard A. Shepard was elected as commander of the Whitehall Post of the American Legion for the 1999-2000 program year. Other officers of Post 132 chosen by members during the October/November election included Vice Commander Matthew Bruns and Finance Officer Michael Redfern.

Whitehall High School Student of the Week was freshman Kayla Hunt, and she was praised for her excellent work in the Word Processing class. Teacher Julie Kieckbusch said, "Kayla is a very conscientious student with a good understanding of computers and word processing." Kayla is the daughter of Lorie and Dean Hunt and enjoys playing the flute and writing stories.

Whitehall High School Athletes of the Week were the Academic All-State Athletes. Seventeen Whitehall High School athletes earned a spot on the Montana Academic All-State Team by lettering in a fall sport and achieving a 3.5 or higher grade point average. These student-athletes define the concept of hard work in the classroom and hard work in athletic competitions.

WHS Creative Leader of the Week was senior Jamie Ruckdaschel for helping younger students with band during her study hall. Band directors Mrs. Tebay and Mrs. Oliverson both agree that Jamie is a great teacher who instills confidence in her "students." Jamie is the daughter of Keith and Nila Ruckdaschel and has plans to attend college in Dillon after graduation. She enjoys pep band, volleyball, and spending time with her friends.
