I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! The Whitehall Community Library will be closed on Thursday, November 28th, and Friday, November 29th, for the holiday. We will be open all other days at regular hours.
We have a huge book order coming in this week and next, so look for lots of new adult fiction, children's, and young adult books. The staff has been processing new DVDs in time for the holiday vacations as well, so check the new movie section.
December is coming, and the Christmas At The Library schedule is set! On Saturday, December 7th, the Library will open at 9 AM and close at 3 PM. The Friends book sale will be open the entire day, with hardbacks going for 20 cents and paperbacks selling for 10 cents. Children's activities will run from 10 AM to noon. The Winterwear Giveaway will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM. The afternoon activities will run from 1 PM to 3 PM, with a visit from Santa, the annual Friends of the Library reception, and music provided by the Whitehall Community Band.
With so many different events around town, don't forget the community bulletin board at the library. It is open to any Whitehall area group or event that wants to get the word out about their organization or happenings. The bulletin board is free and open to all, we just ask that you stop at the front desk and show us the poster, so we know what is on the bulletin board. That lets us point out your information to our many patrons who visit each day.
Tim Colvin of Vet Talk will be here at 1:30 PM this Wednesday. He is great at answering all types of questions on financial, medical, and benefits help for those who served. No appointment is necessary, but veterans may call him at 406-551-7855 if they have a special need they wish to discuss.
The library has applications for the Toys For Tots program. Anyone in need may fill them out for little ones who would like a special gift for Christmas. The program manager comes to Whitehall and picks up the applications weekly in December or sooner if we receive many. The applications are confidential; guardians or parents may fill out one for every child.
December calendars are out and filled with fun things for everyone. The January calendars are almost finished; the library is checking a few program speakers.
