GEORGIA, I have a question,
This morning, my husband showed me a great sale on an artificial Christmas tree. It was about the price we paid for fresh trees for two years. We both want to switch to an artificial tree.
My 23-year-old daughter lives with us, and she insists that we continue the tradition of getting a real tree. I feel that since she plans on getting her own place soon, she shouldn’t get a vote. She can have whatever kind of tree she wants when she moves out. I also feel that even if she did get a vote, her opinion doesn’t have more weight than my husband's and my own.
She is getting a new puppy in a few weeks, and she thinks it would be cute to take photos of it at the tree farm. Evidently, taking photos of her puppy near evergreen trees cannot be done unless we actually purchase a tree from said farm.
So, tonight, when my husband brought home the artificial tree, my daughter was furious. But does she really have a right to be mad?
FAKE TREE FOR NOW
Dear FAKE,
Ahhh...the kids these days do everything for the ‘gram! Her getting a puppy and wanting pictures for social media shouldn’t matter, and whether you and your husband want what has become a hassle in your home to be a bit easier to manage. No one can tell if the tree she takes a photo with is the actual tree inside your home - unless she has a following like Kim Kardashian and people are trying to prove her photos as fakes. A fake tree is perfectly fine - tell her to get over it!
With love, GEORGIA
