Whitehall area residents will have an opportunity to learn more about - and comment on - a proposal to build a rest stop at the Whitehall/I-90 interchange at a public meeting on Thursday, Oct. 28. The lot on the northeast section of the interchange was a possible location for a rest area.

Whitehall High School Student of the Week was freshman Anthony St. John, who was nominated by Vo. Math teacher Carole Cogdill said Tony works hard, has a positive attitude, and works weekly with other students. Tony is the son of Barb and Don Haxby. He enjoys mechanics, basketball, and computers and plans to attend college after high school.

Whitehall High School's Athlete of the Week was Trojan football team captain and four-year starter Bill Battaiola. Bill was named All-Conference for three years and has consistently been a hardworking and dedicated football player. However, he was forced to end his senior year football season early because of a broken fibula during a game. Bill is the son of Mike and Patty Battaiola.

WHS Creative Leader of the Week was Stephanie Burtch. Drama coach Larry Brazill nominated her because of Stephanie’s “willingness and enthusiasm in doing what is asked of her.” Stephanie, a junior, is the daughter of Karen and Dave Cole. She plans on attending college for political science and theatre arts. Stephanie enjoys acting, singing, and playing in band and pep band.
