Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
November is a busy time for holidays and events, so I want to remind everyone of the days the Whitehall Community Library will be closed during that time. The library will be closed on November 5th for Election Day, November 11th for Veterans Day, and November 28th and 29th for Thanksgiving. The library will be open the rest of the month during regular hours. The book drop is always open if anyone needs to return items when the library is closed.
The Mystery Book Club will be meeting Tuesday, October 22, at 5 PM. The History Book Club will meet on Monday, October 28th, at 5 PM. We have had requests to restart the Holocaust Book Discussion Group in November, so watch for further information.
Homeschool Mom Roundup will be held Thursday, October 24th at 6 PM. Last month they had a great time sharing the ups and downs of home education. Any homeschool parent is welcome to join the group. It is for adults as the discussions cover many topics and questions. So, take a break and meet some great people.
One of the wonderful things about being a librarian is the chance to see adults who loved the Library as children and come back as adults to visit. I was surprised by one of my young readers on Friday who had moved out of state. She is married now and expecting her first child. I love the fact that she and her husband are both still readers and use their library often.
Our Veteran's representative will be here on Wednesday, October 30th at 1:30 PM. This has been a very successful program in connecting veterans with the assistance they need. You can make an appointment or just come and talk to Tim. If he doesn't know the answer, he will find it. This is a free consultation for veterans and their spouses every month on the last Wednesday afternoon.
Our county nurses are buried in flu shot clinics and will be taking a break from coming to the library. If you need to have a blood pressure check, just stop by their new office in the ambulance building on the corner of Second Street and Whitehall Street. They are there on Tuesdays starting at 1 PM. With all of the clinics they are doing, it would be wise to call first and make sure they are in thebuilding. We appreciate all they do for the people of Whitehall and wish them luck in getting everyone vaccinated who needs to be.
