Fall is the time of new beginnings, and the Whitehall Community Library's calendar is no exception. In September, the Library will host a program entitled Homeschool Mom Roundup for mothers of homeschoolers who want to discuss issues that apply to home education. The program begins September 26 at 6 PM and meets monthly on the last Thursday of the month. At the Library, we do programming for all types of schooling: public, homeschool, private, and religious schools. Everyone is invited to any program the library presents, which is always free. The 21st Century class programs will begin on September 20th with an around-the-world adventure in cooking. The K-3rd and the 4th-8th graders will be trying dishes from lands near and far.

There will be four storytimes during the fall, meeting on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 1 PM; on Fridays, you can join us at 1 PM. All storytimes will start promptly and on time as we work back-to-back with other programs. If you are late, just come on in and join us!

Starting September 12th at 3:30 PM, Art Camp will begin for ages K-4. If there are enough requests for preschoolers or older children, the staff will consider adding another time slot. Robotics for our younger scientists will begin on September 13th at 2 PM, followed by Kid’s Quilting at 3 PM. While Miss Brandi has all sorts of new projects for Robotics, the quilters working to finish their quilts will complete current projects. New members will begin working on a wall hanging. Quilting classes are for ages 3rd grade and up. Makerspace resumes on Thursday, September 12th, at 2 PM. This program alternates with Homeschool Roundup. Children enjoy science, art, engineering, math, and technology projects. This is a chance for children to explore various activities with a hands-on emphasis.

If you have not had a chance to see the exhibit from the Safari Museum in Chanute, Kansas, so make sure to stop by. The items must be returned by the beginning of next week, so

this is a chance to see all types of toys, musical instruments, cultural artifacts, and more. We thank the Osa and Martin Safari Museum for sending us this wonderful set of items to share with everyone!

Calendars are out and available at the front desk. One program we would like to start is a Finish Your Projects quilting group. For those of us who work during the day and night, this

group is a chance to meet others who love to quilt and get those shelf projects finished at last! If you want to join us, please call the Library at 287-3763. If there is enough interest, the

group will start in October.
