Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Norma Magee Malia Daly, 94

Norma and her family moved to Dillon, MT, where she finished school and graduated from Beaverhead County High School. Norma met the love of her life, Jack Malia, while working in Dillon. They married and lived there until he graduated from Western Montana College, where he received a degree in Education. They then moved to Phillipsburg and welcomed their first daughter, Nora Jean "Jeannie," and then Jackie while living there. Once they moved to Butte a few years later, they established their lifelong home. Following Jack's death, Norma remarried to Bill Daly. Norma was an avid gardener and quiltmaker. She was a particularly good homemaker, and her house, where she lived for over 60 years, still shows this. She was a family convener, hosting and bringing together family on special occasions or just for a simple meal or a cup of tea or coffee. She was a member of TOPS and served in various officer positions in the group over the years.

Norma was preceded in death by the love of her life, John "Jack" Malia; her parents, Charles and Amber; her sisters and brothers-in-law Celia "Montie" and Jack Brazill, Margaret and Bob Brazill and Amber "Mickey" Butala; her son-in-law Sofus Michelsen; her mother and father in law, John (Johnnie) and Bella Malia; her brother and sisters in law, Joe and Edith Malia, Dan Malia, Jean and Chester Stodden, Mary and Ned Laird, Lou Ann and Eddie Mengon, and Bob Chouinard; and late husband, Bill Daly.

She is survived by her daughters, Nora (Jeannie) Garza (Emilio) and Jackie McGrath (Dan); her grandsons, Lou Fon tana and John Fontana (Jennifer); her great-granddaughters, Cassandra Fontana and Sierra Fontana; her brother, David Magee (Ruthann); her sister-in-law, Rose Chouinard; her stepdaughters, Lori Bruce and Nancy Novack (Joe); and her bonus grandchildren, Mallory and Joe Mike Novack.

Norma is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews too numerous to list. All held a special place in her heart.

Her Celebration of Life will be held at the Treasure State ballroom, Finlen Hotel 100 E Broadway Butte, MT, on Friday, August 23, 2024. Visitation will be at 11:30 AM, the Celebration of Life at 12:30 PM, Committal Rites Holy Cross cemetery will follow, and a reception at the Finlen will follow the internment.

Special thank you to Stillwater Hospice for their compassionate care of our family and mother. A special thank you to Jorden Guay, who was so exemplary in her care; mom referred to her as "MY Little Girl."

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grace Fund Foundation can be made. Please visit Axelson Funeral's website to offer the family a condolence or to share a memory of Norma.
