Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Whitehall Garden Club News: August

Instead of the regular monthly meeting at the Bordens conference room, the Whitehall Garden Club (WGC) met at the home of member Karen Nielsen and her husband Travis, looking forward to a sun-filled garden tour. The Club was immediately enchanted with the variety of places to explore. There was the corral with its beautiful horses, the sloped hillsides, and the outlined green grass lawns, all covered with bright and tall standing sunflowers, planted like Mother Nature had done the job herself. There were secret gardens filled with treasures on the property, serene hideaway gems disappearing among the foliage of all types while walking on paths, and healthy, clucking chickens. Then Sweet Williams popped up wherever they wanted. It was all a very natural and organic style that made wandering delightful.

Of course, being the WGC, there was a delicious array of food at the potluck luncheon. Travis and Karen provided the barbecued hamburgers (yum!), the rest of the club provided salads of every sort (fabulous!), and the dessert table was astounding! Have you ever eaten one (or all) of three flavor choices of Wilcoxson ice cream in a red solo cup filled to the brim?? That sure changed the meaning of the Red Solo Cup song for me!! And the homemade gooey goodies....oh my!

Did I mention the meeting led by President Kathy Ross? We, in fact, had a meeting and are making very serious decisions for upcoming months and activities. The Jefferson County Fair - A Fair of the Heart - is just around the corner, with creative activities for all. Have you heard about the broccoli project? Watch the Ledger for more info. Also, stay tuned for information about the Pie Auction coming in September.

What a beautiful day! We thank Karen, Travis, and their daughter Tracey for the chance to visit and enjoy their beautiful slice of heaven right outside of Whitehall.
