Are the Rumors True? NO - This was NOT the Last of Frontier Days

Ah, Whitehall’s rumor mill. It is a wonder. However, the latest rumor churning through town is not true, and I can confirm that.

In April 2024, at the monthly Whitehall Chamber of Commerce meeting, it was discussed that the Chamber had become an event planning company for Whitehall and was not meeting its mission. A Chamber of Commerce should provide resources to local businesses, push Shop Local campaigns, find grants for local businesses and entities, and promote local events. The Chamber has led almost all of Whitehall’s events, running them instead of only promoting them.

In May of 2024, I spoke with several entities around town regarding taking the lead on Frontier Days, the Fall Festival, the Christmas Festival, and the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Gold Junction Presents will lead the Fall Festival, which ties in nicely with the Screams Come True Haunted House. The Western Legacy Center will plan the Christmas Festival, which coincides with their annual Cowboy Christmas Dinner. We hope the local churches will take an interest in chairing the Easter Egg Hunt, but that has not been confirmed.

Frontier Days will be chaired and coordinated by Kory Klapan and a crew he has assembled. Klapan has been heavily involved in Frontier Days for many years, putting together the street closures, making sure the facilities are up to par, coordinating with the Town for the Rodeos, and more. The Chamber will help him and his team in any way they need in 2025, but the Chamber will no longer be the main coordinator for vendors, the parade, and other events with Frontier Days.

The rumors are not true - mark your calendars for 2025!
