Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The Whitehall High School Athletic Hall of Fame would like to announce the induction ceremony for the Class of 2023.
This ceremony will be held on July 27th at 3 PM at the Whitehall Legion Center at 405 W Legion. The doors will open at 2:30 PM.
The committee invites all to come and honor three individuals (Layne Glaus, Kerry Sacry, and Nels Nelson), one team (the 1983 Whitehall Renegades American Legion Baseball Team), and one couple (Doug and Arcylle Shaw) as contributors.
Layne Glaus was a three-sport athlete from 2002 to 2006, mainly making a name for himself in basketball.
Kerry Sacry was also a three-sport athlete in the 1970s. He was All-State in three sports and will go down as one of the best all-around athletes in WHS history.
Nels Nelson is arguably the best wrestler to compete for Whitehall. Nelson was a three-time State Champion and a four-time State Placer, with an overall record of 107-9-2.
The 1983 Whitehall Renegades American Legion Baseball Team capped a great season by capturing the State Class B Title. The team was mainly made up of Whitehall players, with one player from Three Forks.
Doug and Arcylle Shaw have been lifelong supporters of WHS and WHS athletics, volunteering hundreds of hours for the school and its many activities and sports.
WHS Athletic Hall of Fame, founded in 2015, is dedicated to identifying and honoring the outstanding accomplishments of former athletes, coaches, administrators, teams, and contributors to WHS.
Athletes are eligible for nomination ten years after their class graduation and must have competed in a WHS-sanctioned varsity sport and excelled in that sport. Coaches are eligible four years after the completion of their coaching. Teams are eligible ten years after their year of competition. Contributors are eligible at any time.
The WHS Athletic Hall of Fame welcomes everyone to attend this year’s ceremony on July 27th to honor the inductees. Questions may be directed to Ed Simon at 406-490-0351.
