Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 7/3/2024

Happy Fourth of July to everyone! The library will be closed on the fourth but open the rest of the week at regular hours. We will serve lunches on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week, then back to the regular schedule on Monday, July 8th. Lunches are served free from 11 AM to 1 PM to anyone 18 and younger.

On Wednesday, July 10th, at 10:30 AM, our favorite wizard will be back in the library! He will perform his magical scientific tricks for everyone and explain the science behind reactions, color changes, and other amazing things that chemistry can do.

Summer Reading is half over, so ensure you have picked up your reading sheets and signed up for great prizes. The summer reading store will be held on July 31st at 10:30 AM at our usual finale celebration. If your family is out of town that week, you may come in upon your return and pick up prizes from the staff.

We have released almost 500 new children's books in the last two weeks. The picture bookshelves are full of beautifully illustrated stories and legends. We also added many new children's and young adult series to the collection, including the Skullduggery series, Lisa McMann's new adventure series, new graphic novels, and more. I am working on a new adult order, so if you have a new book you would like to see added to the collection, drop by the front desk and leave me a note.

You may have noticed some new faces around the Library as our volunteer staff has increased. This summer has been especially busy with all of the different programs, and they have been a huge help in getting our new books out on the shelves. I want to say thank you to all of them! If you would like to volunteer at the Library, stop by and chat with any of the staff. We are always looking for people to help with a variety of tasks.

In two weeks, Kyle Groves, the magician, will be in the Library. Kyle is the son of Mr. E and continues the family tradition of sharing magic with audiences all over the country. He always matches his magic shows to our summer reading theme, so this will be a great time. Don’t forget to come share in the magic at the library on July 17th at 10:30 AM.
