WHS Class of 2024 Scholarships Announced

As announced by WHS School Board Chair James Reiff: Class of 2024, congratulations on your great achievement of graduating high school. In your high school careers, you have successfully navigated through a pandemic, block scheduling, and a 4-day school week on top of many other changes. You handled these things with grace and were able to persevere. Overcoming these uncertainties and changes should make you extremely proud of yourselves.

ASHLYN ALLEY:

• Presidential Merit Scholarship at Carroll College. $23,000 (renewable yearly)

• Whitehall Country Store Scholarship - This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while focusing on career goals. $5,000

LINDSAY BRIGGS:

• Magris Talc USA Scholarship - This goes to a student who has shown outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular activities, and community service/activities based on student merit and financial need equally. $1,000

• Tia Kober Scholarship - Tia Kober was an educator in the Whitehall School District for 38 years; the elementary gymnasium is named in her honor. Scholarships are awarded to graduates pursuing a career in education, the medical field, or STEM programs. $500 (renewable)

• Mary Ann Maloney Larsen Memorial Scholarship - Mary Ann Maloney Larsen was WHS's secretary for 35 years and was involved in students' lives from freshmen to senior year. $1,000

• Sacry Scholarship - Established to honor Carroll and Cora Sacry in recognition of their descendants' influence at WHS. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, three years of sports, or two years in sports and one in band. $1000

• Whitehall American Legion Dennis Smith Memorial Scholarship - Offered to WHS graduate who wins the essay contest on "What is a Veteran?" $1,000

• Freshman Merit Scholarship BYU-Idaho - Paid half tuition

• The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Scholarship Program- $3000

• Whitehall Country Store Scholarship - This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while focusing on career goals. $5,000

CECILIA MADDEN:

• Academic Merit Scholarship at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. $30,000 (renewable yearly)

• Whitehall Country Store Scholarship - This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while focusing on career goals. $5,000

CHARITY NIESKENS:

• Dorothy Shaw Memorial Scholarship - Dorothy Shaw bequeathed money to WHS to recognize a senior for their academic achievement. Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, 15 credits from English, Social Studies, Math, Science, or Foreign Language.

• Sandra Harper Hunt Memorial Scholarship - Mr. Ron Hunt, a WHS 1954 alumni, bequeathed funds to WHS in 2017 in honor of his late wife, Sandra Harper Hunt. As Mrs Hunt was very involved in donating her time to her community and others, this scholarship recognizes community service and volunteerism. $1,000

• Southern Methodist University Opportunity Scholarship - $46,318 (renewable yearly)

• No Greater Sacrifice Foundation Scholarship - $27,120 (renewable yearly)

• 9/11 Promise Scholarship - $5000

• GJ Hecht Scholarship for Women to Make a Difference on the Planet - $1000

• Montana Outdoor Property Group Keller Williams Scholarship - $500

• Operation Second Chance Scholarship - $5500

• Montana Community Foundation David Payne Scholarship - $1300

• Whitehall Country Store Scholarship - This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while focusing on career goals. $5,000

ISAAC SKOGEN:

• Barrick Golden Sunlight- Selection based on academic performance, leadership/citizenship, and career aspirations. Recipients must attend an approved school, preferably in an engineering or mining-related field. $5000

• Whitehall Little Guy Wrestling Scholarship-Awardees must be high school wrestlers who assist and are recognized as role models within the Little Guy program.

• Sacry Scholarship - Established to honor Carroll and Cora Sacry in recognition of their descendants' influence at WHS. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, three years of sports, or two years in sports and one in band. $1000

• MSU STEM/Healthcare scholarship - $6000 (renewable for four years)

• Whitehall Country Store Scholarship - This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while focusing on career goals. $5,000

REILLY SLATER:

• Whitehall Garden Club Scholarship - To honor a graduate pursuing 2-year, 4-year, or trade-related degrees. Students were scored on their academics as well as their involvement in the community. $1,000

• Whitehall Country Store Scholarship - This scholarship honors academics and outside activities while focusing on career goals. $5,000
