Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Let's Go For a Hike!

The Becoming an Outdoors Woman program (BOW) invites you to a hike at Glendive's Makoshika State Park on Saturday, May 4, from 10 AM to 3 PM.

This guided event is designed for beginning hikers, but all skill levels are welcome. Attendees will listen to a short presentation on how best to prepare for hiking and how to stay safe on the trail. Lunch, snacks, and drinks are included. The event costs $20, and participants must be 18 to register.

Enjoy the beautiful vistas and varied trails at the park, get some exercise and fresh air, meet other women interested in the outdoors, and learn some fascinating paleontology facts along the way! The park is a premier location for dinosaur fossils. It is one of the few places in the world where you can actually see the K-Pg Boundary, a thin band of sedimentation that coincides with the meteorite impact believed to have caused dinosaurs' extinction.

Please dress for the weather and wear shoes designed for hiking. Class size is limited. Register at https://www.register-ed.com/events/view/212208. For questions, contact Kylie Kembel, BOW coordinator, at 406-444-5280 or email kylie.kembel@mt.gov.

The Becoming an Outdoors Woman program, administered through Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, strives to reduce barriers to women experiencing the outdoors and offers an educational, encouraging setting. For more information, visit https://fwp.mt.gov/education/becoming-an-outdoors-woman.
