Robert James Herrmann, 89

Robert James Herrmann died on April 2, 2024, under his family's care and LeRoyer Hospice's care. He was 89 years old. He was born on June 3, 1934 in Red Springs, WI a son of the late Charles and Minnie (Loehrl) Herrmann. He married Judy Terrio on October 12, 1957, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bowler. She preceded him in death in December 2017.

Robert graduated from Mattoon High School in 1952.

He was a dairy farmer and logger in Aniwa, Wisconsin, until 1979. His passion for hunting and fishing led him to move West. Robert lived in Whitehall, Montana, where he owned the Rice Motel for eight years and worked as a carpenter building homes. While in Whitehall, he coached baseball and was proud to win the American Legion Baseball State Championship.

Robert's passion in life was hunting with hounds. He went on many hunting trips, and many fellow hunters made trips to Montana to hunt with him. He enjoyed fishing, taking an annual family fishing trip to the boundary waters in northern Minnesota, Canada, and the Dakotas. He also enjoyed spending time at the log cabin he built in the mountains.

In 2008, he moved to Elcho, where he continued to hunt and fish. Robert also enjoyed playing card games with his family.

Survivors include three sons, John (Deana Jensen) Herrmann of Antigo, Doug (Linda) Herrmann of Bismarck, N.D., and Thomas Herrmann of Antigo; a daughter, Kay (Edwin) Ruckdaschel of Douglas, WY; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Margaret Zoern of Aniwa.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Ruckdaschel; brother, Charles (Alice) Herrmann; brother-in-law, James Zoern; sister-in-law, Carol (LeRoy) Beirman; and brother-in-law, Bill Terrio.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 17, at 11 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo, WI, with Jim Hartleben, S.A.M. officiating. Burial will follow at Aniwa Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 16, from 5 to 7 PM and Wednesday, April 17, from 9 to 11 AM.
