Change of Venue for 3rd Annual Let's Talk Disability, Butte April 18 & 19

The Let's Talk Disability, Butte organizing committee is thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated annual event, now in its third year. Scheduled for Thursday, April 18th, and Friday, April 19th, at 6:30 PM, at the Montana Tech Auditorium in Butte, this event aims to promote dialogue, understanding, connection, and inclusivity around disability issues within the community.

The Let's Talk Disability, Butte event is a monologue production featuring individuals with disabilities sharing their personal stories onstage. The event serves as a platform for individuals with disabilities, their families, advocates, and community members to come together and engage in meaningful conversations.

"We are excited to host the 3rd Annual Let's Talk Disability, Butte event where the participants share their stories, sometimes with humor and laughter and sometimes with frustration and pain. All wanting to be seen and heard as people first," said Barb Knapke, Let's Talk Disability Co-Director. "By providing a space for sharing and listening, we hope to dissipate the stigma of disability and encourage others to accept their own differences while we reveal how we live with our differences. Telling our stories helps us take power over our disability instead of the disability taking power over us. We believe that by coming together and connecting with each other, we can create positive change and ensure that everyone is seen as a vital and contributing member of our community who also deserves to have their environment designed to be inclusive and accessible."

The 3rd Annual Let's Talk Disability, Butte event is $10. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at orphangirl.org. Students get in free with their student ID. The event is open to the public of all ages, but please note some sensitive topics will be discussed. American Sign Language interpretation (ASL) and Captioning in Real Time services will be available.
