Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Putting on community events, like last weekend’s Easter Egg and Scavenger Hunt, requires SO many people. There are things you just wouldn’t think of—from ordering the little trinkets inside the eggs to borrowing barricades from the town to getting candy donations to peeling off the old icky tape from the Easter eggs to clean up. Thankfully, many hands make light work.
When a scheduling conflict arose with the group planning to stuff the 8,000 Easter eggs, the Whitehall Chamber and Gold Junction Presents put out for the annual hunt, an urgent HELP! call was put out on social media. And Whitehall answered that call. Several dozen individuals contacted me, asking how they could help. Tammy Gnerer at High Country Ag took on an entire footlocker full of eggs, assisted by her husband, Mark. (I’m sure they’ll never look at Easter eggs the same.) Whitehall’s Whimsical Wonders tackled several buckets during their monthly meeting. Then, an assortment of individuals stopped into the Ledger office on and off throughout Thursday to help stuff - at one time, there were thirteen stuffers in action. By Saturday at 12:30 PM, all was done, the kids were happy, and another successful Easter event was in the books.
The Ledger is like that, too. This past weekend was cram-packed with events, as you will see inside this issue. From the Fish Fry and Outdoorsman Night on Friday to the Easter Egg Hunt, Prom, and the Sportsman’s Banquet on Saturday (not to mention my best friend’s birthday celebration), I didn’t know how to get everything covered. But again, many hands make light work. My husband covered the Sportsman’s banquet, and Rachel Krug Photography provided the lovely front page photo so that I could celebrate my girl’s birthday.
Many people help with Chamber events, Gold Junction Presents, and the newspaper, and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. Thank them as well, as often as you can, because while I may inadvertently become the face of the event at hand, there are dozens of people behind the scenes making things happen in Whitehall.
BTW - volunteers needed for Frontier Days!
