Nine months after a devastating fire, the Jefferson Valley Baptist Church is restored, expanded, and reborn with a dedication ceremony held on Easter Sunday. Pastor David Rogers said there would be special music, baptisms, and a building dedication during the Easter service.
The Madison County Planning Board voted 4-3 to send the proposed McCollum subdivision to county commissioners. The commissioners were sharply divided and narrowly approved the 27-lot, 280-acre major subdivision proposed by Doug and Valerie McCollum south of Whitehall near the Jefferson River.
The Whitehall Community Theatre performed its debut production - The Road to Emmaus - at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Sharon Bryant directed the play, which included actors of all ages, and said she hopes the group grows and continues to perform Christian or family-based drama for the community.
The Whitehall High School Drama Club performed its production of The Baseball Show, where a baseball team watches their season turn from tragedy to triumph when the Wolves move from last place to first under unusual circumstances.
Davis Sales & Service celebrates over a half-century in business in Whitehall. The company was started by Frosty Davis just after World War II and was run by Davis' son Dale, who took over in 1975.
The Jefferson County Commission held a special hearing on March 25 to remove Bob Sims from the County Board of Adjustment due to complaints that Sims had "compromised the position in the county" and others "felt hostility" toward them. However, after discussion, the commissioners voted 2-0 to retain Sims on the board.
Everyone is looking forward to the April 2nd Donkey Basketball game with participants ranging from Krystin "Buzzer Beatin" Feight, Jeremy "Silk" Fleege, Coco "The Enforcer" Martinson, Jamie "Stone Cold" Reiff and Whitehall Merchants Ron "The Speller" Fuller, Mike "Spanky" Lankford, Bob "Tunes" Hellwig, "Larry Legend the Muleskinner" Feight, amongst others.
Whitehall Student of the Week was senior Kim Franich, nominated by Bill Herbolich for her work in math class. She is the daughter of Mike and Michele Franich and plans to attend the University of Oregon.
Whitehall Creative Leader of the Week was senior Krystin Feight, the daughter of Larry and Donna Feight, who was honored for her work on student council and pep assembly.
Whitehall Athlete of the Week was freshman Kenzie Cowling, selected because of her spirit, dedication, and enthusiasm for cheerleading over the past year. Kenzie is the daughter of Sandra Cowling.
