Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Destination: Santa Rosita, Guatemala. A team from Cardwell Community Church in Cardwell, Montana, will be heading to Santa Rosita at the end of April. Santa Rosita is an area of 600 families 30 minutes south of Guatemala City. They live in extreme poverty—no electricity or running water, and they lack medical care.
Gary and Debbie Miller, who will lead the team, have ministered to these delightful people before to physically help and teach them about Jesus and what He offers them.
The team's members range in age from high school students to those with over seventy years of life experience. Seven of them are from the Cardwell Church, and the eighth one, Mariah Young, from Spokane, will meet them in Los Angeles.
Projects they will be doing include sorting, packing, and distributing food and clothing, unloading and loading big trucks, and installing and maintaining Chispa stoves. These are opportunities to share the love of Jesus in their homes. Kids' events will be opportunities to distribute the New Testaments brought along.
A full day of Debbie cutting hair and the team shampooing and treating scalps for lice offers more opportunities to share the love of Jesus. Sunday worship will be set up and taken down. Water is carried to their homes, and showing them how to use the water filtering systems may be part of their time there. Being flexible is part of the experience.
In connection with the Mission Trip, a garage sale/ bake sale is planned for April 6th to help the missionaries financially. It will be held at the Cardwell Pavilion, 788 Hwy 2 East, from 8 AM to 4 PM. Tools, construction materials, household goods, baked deliciousness, and more will be available. Mark your calendars now!
