Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a pavement preservation project in Whitehall on Montana Highway 55 (MT 55), commonly known as West Legion Avenue and North Whitehall Street, beginning at the intersection with Montana Highway 2 (MT 2) and extending east and north to the Interstate 90 (I 90) Interchange.
Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps, limited curb and gutter replacements, signage, and upgraded pavement markings. The purpose of the project is to preserve and extend the service life of the roadway.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2025 depending on the completion of the design and the availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to the Montana Department of Transportation, Butte office, PO Box 3068, Butte, MT 59702-3068. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10265000.
The public is encouraged to contact Butte District Preconstruction Engineer Dave Gates at 406-494-9636 or Project Design Engineer Kevin Mueller at 406-494-9616 with questions or comments about the project.
