M: He gets presents for me!
L: How does he know to bring you presents? How does he know if you've been good?
M: (long pause) Cuz he.....he...I think he makes a prediction.
L: How does Santa get to your house?
M: He flies! (flaps her arms)
L: Oh! Santa has wings?
M: (put her arms down) No! He flies in his sleigh!
L: I didn't know sleighs could fly either.
M: They fly because of the reindeers!
L: Oh ok! Do you know any of Santa's reindeer's names?
M: No.
L: What do you want for Christmas?
M: (huge smile) A Barbie Dream House!
L: How big is a Barbie Dream House?
M: (stands up and puts her hands to her nose) This tall!
L: That's almost as tall as you!
M: (nods her head and giggles)
L: How many Barbies do you think you have?
M: Ten!
L: Which one is your favorite?
M: I don't know!

LEDGER: What's your favorite part about Christmas?
ALLY: Uhh...I like...the presents!
L: Who brings you presents?
A: Santa!
L: Santa? I've never seen Santa! Have you?

L: What does he look like?
A: He looks like a rabbit!
L: A rabbit? Really? How big is Santa the rabbit?
A: (spreads her arms out wide)

L: How does he get to your house?
A: (scratches her head) I...don't know.
L: Does he knock on your door and you let him in?
A: No! Cuz I'm in bed!
L: Hh! So he comes at night?
A: Yes!

A: Cookies!

A: I like chocolate chip!

A: A big LOL doll and a little LOL doll!
L: I know about LOL dolls! Which one is your favorite?
A: I like the glittery ones!

H: (smiles) Yes!

L: What do you do to decorate for Christmas at your house?
H: We have a tree!
L: You put a tree in your house? How big is this tree?
H: Very big!
L: Can you fit under it?
H: No but the presents can!
L: Who brings you presents?
H: Santa!
L: Do you know what Santa looks like?
H: He has a red hat with white stripes on it and he isn't skinny.
L: He isn't? How much do you think he weighs?
H: I don't know!
L: What do you want for Christmas?
H: A lot of baby dolls!
L: Baby dolls! What would you like them to be dressed in? Do you have a favorite color?
H: I want them to be dressed like teddy bears!

L: That big? How much do you think an elf weighs?
C: One pound!

C: Santa does!
L: How does he get into your house? Does he use the front door?
C: No! He goes through the chimney!
L: So you must not have a fire in the chimney on Christmas, right? C: (thinking) No...we do...
L: So how does Santa not get burned?
C: (thinking) He's....special?

C: Jewelry!

KOOPER: The elves do!
L: What does an elf look like? I've never seen one. Can you tell me?
K: They have a hat...

K: A pointy hat.

K: (squeezes her fingers together) L: Ok! So really small...how much do they weigh?
K: (shrugs her shoulders)

K: They live where it's cold!

L: What does Santa look like?
A: He...well....he...he has a white beard!
L: Is he old? Is he your age? How old do you think he is?
A: No...he's old.
L: How much do you think he weighs?
A: I don't know...I just know he's still alive and he brings presents!
L: How does he get to your house?
A: A reindeer that can fly!
L: Do you know his reindeer's names?
A: No...they are just reindeer.

TRISTAN: Ummmmm...(eyes light up) Christmas!
L: Why are you so excited? Why is Christmas so much fun?
T: Because...because...the Christmas presents!
L: Do people just hand you the Christmas presents or how do you get them?
T: Oh, oh no....Santa has to bring them.
L: Santa? Who is Santa?
T: (rolls his eyes and starts laughing) Santa! Santa's the guy who brings presents to everybody!
T: Oh ok! So is he a friend of yours?
T: Yeah! Yeah, he's my friend.
L: So what does Santa look like?
T: (thinks hard) Well, I don't know what he looks really cuz I haven't seen him for close but I know what his hat looks like!
L: Does it look like a cowboy hat?
T: No! It's a red hat!
L: Maybe like a beanie?
T: Well, yeah... but there's another thing sticking out this side that's white.
L: What kind of car does Santa drive?
T: (rolls his eyes) He doesn't drive a car! He rides in the Christmas sled!
L: Does the sled have an engine, or how does it move?
T: Yeah...it does. A bit. Kind of.
L: Does Santa drive it on the road?
T: No! It flies in the sky cuz of his elves!
L: Oh! What's an...
T: Oops...oh wait...no, not the elves. the reindeers.
L: What do you want for Christmas?
T: A toy gun!
L: A big one or a little one?
T: A little one!

B: We have trains at home.
L: Have you ever seen The Polar Express?
B: (thinking) Ummmm....no.
L: I haven't either. I hear it's a very good Christmas train movie.
B: I know! I want a crane. It's a crane for trains....and Santa Claus can put presents on his sleigh with the crane.

LEDGER: What's special about Christmas?
HOLDEN: Ummmmmm....

H: Presents!

H: Santa Claus!

H: No.

H: When I wake up, there's presents under my tree.

H: It has lights...and ornaments...

H: A big star!

H: Hmmmmm....a skateboard!
L: A skateboard! Do you want a helmet too?
H: I have a helmet - it's a bike helmet....that will work.

H: Skeletons and Star Wars!

HUCK: Uhhhhhh....no.
L: Do you know what Santa's name is?
H: (rolls his eyes and laughs) Uh yeah! It's Santa!
L: What does Santa Claus look like?

L: He looks like your fist?
H: No! (laughs) But he's colorful
L: Is he blue? Is he pink? Is he yellow?
H: (giggling) NO!
L: So what does he look like?
H: (really giggling) He looks like my dad! But my dad is a little bigger!
L: Ok! What does Santa say?
H: He says Ho Ho Ho!
L: Does your dad say Ho Ho Ho?
H: No!
L: What do you want for Christmas?
H: A Power Ranger!
L: What color Power Ranger?
H: The red one!
L: Why the red one? Why is he so cool?
H: Because my dad gets it for me and my dad likes red... so he will get the red one.
