Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The opportunity to serve as a volunteer on the High Peaks Federal Credit Union Board of Directors is one of the most significant differentiating factors that separates credit unions from traditional banks. They set the direction of the credit union and collaborate with the CEO to manage it according to the wishes of the membership.
Credit unions are owned by their members, which allows them to have a say in how their financial lives are run. Instead of serving corporate stockholders, the Board of Directors serves the members. Credit unions are made up of people working together to achieve a better life for themselves and their community.
Whether or not you are a current member of High Peaks, you are encouraged to apply to be considered for one of two board positions being voted on by the membership at the Annual Meeting on March 11, 2024. The deadline for applying is Friday, December 8th.
When I applied, my interest in serving was sparked by the concerning direction of the banking industry.
I believe people should have more choice and better control over their banking affairs, not less. I love the cooperative model because the members own it. However, with that advantage comes responsibility. As the banking industry and the world at large continue to change, how does that responsibility factor into our long-term success?
This is the question that the entire High Peaks Federal Credit Union community must learn how to answer together. I personally would appreciate your interest in helping to make this happen and your consideration to serve by contacting me at 406-580-5524 or emailing me at jon@treasurestateadvisors.com before Friday, December 8th.
