Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The Montana Historical Society invites community members of all ages to attend a festive open house at the Original Governor's Mansion in Helena in celebration of the winter holiday season.
Visitors can explore the historic house at their leisure from noon to 4 PM on Saturday, December 2, while enjoying the merry piano tunes of Frank Kuntz and admiring the holiday decorations. Families are encouraged to attend, and special activities will be available for children, with cookies and hot drinks.
The Original Governor's Mansion served Montana's First Families from 1913 to 1959 and displays impressive Queen Anne-style architecture with furnishings and artifacts from the era. Brochures will be provided so guests can discover the history of the house through a self-guided tour. Volunteers will be stationed on each floor to answer any questions that may arise.
The regular guided tour schedule at the Original Governor's Mansion is Saturdays at noon, 1, 2, and 3 PM, with free admission. Reservations are not accepted, and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis with tours capped at 20 people.
Additional tours will be offered on Friday, November 24, and Friday, December 22 at the same hours to accommodate guests during the holidays. Plan on bringing your friends and family when they come to town!
The Original Governor's Mansion is at 304 N. Ewing St. in Helena. Please note that the Mansion is not ADA-compliant. Stairs access the front porch, with two flights of stairs inside the house.
