JVCF Grant Evaluation Begins

The Jefferson Valley Community Foundation (JVCF) has begun the evaluation of grants that have been applied for and have met the deadline and the grant standards. Every year the JVCF awards monetary grants to nonprofit organizations that have worthy projects and need financial help for completion of their project. The grant deadline has come and gone and grant applications have been submitted.

Last year, the following nonprofits received grants: JV Sportsmen, JV Search and Rescue, Whitehall Food Bank, Whitehall Chamber of Commerce, Town of Whitehall Pool, VFW Post 4603/American Legion, Western Legacy Center, PULSE, Garden Club, and Friends of the Library. The grants covered projects ranging from picnic tables and benches at the Piedmont Pond to completion of the mural at Jefferson Fresh Foods to money toward the remodel at the Western Legacy Center to funds toward the Arbor Celebration, among several others.

Grants will be awarded at the JVCF’s Short and Sweet awards night which will be held at the Whitehall Community Center on November 8th at 7 PM. Even nonprofits that have not applied should attend because the organization always grants several Mystery Grants which are drawn from a list of attendees who register and fill out a grant contract. Mystery grants can be as much as $1,000.00 and attendance and registration are the only criterion to be considered for such a grant.

In addition, it is worth noting that the Jefferson Valley Community Foundation has recently received a certificate of recognition from the DAR for outstanding community service.
