Marion Carol Johns, age 82, of Whitehall, Montana, passed away on October 4, 2023. She was born on August 28, 1941, in Missoula, Montana, to Josephine and Bill Scheeler. Marion grew up in St. Ignatius, Montana, where she attended St. Ignatius High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Montana State University.
Marion married Lelland Johns in 1962, whom she had met in high school. They shared a beautiful life together and raised their children, Kristy, Susan, and Bill, in Whitehall. Marion was a dedicated teacher at Whitehall High School for twenty years while also managing the family ranch. She had a passion for education and loved being around her students. Marion was known for her love of family and her love for horses. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and enjoyed riding horses.
Marion is survived by her beloved husband, Lelland Johns, her daughter Susan Johns, her son Bill Johns (Michelle), her grandchildren Jay Smith, Ty Smith (Micki), Jess Smith, Casey Johns (Janae), Jacob Johns, and Hunter Johns, and her great-grandchildren Zahara Smith and Finn Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kristy Johns, her parents Josephine and Bill Scheeler, and her brothers Stephen Scheeler, Dave Scheeler, and Bob Scheeler.
Memorial services for Marion were held on Saturday, October 7th at 10 AM at the Catholic Church in Whitehall. Following the service, a procession to the old Whitehall cemetery for the burial was held. Afterward, a short reception was held at the K-Bar in Whitehall. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's in Marion's memory.
Marion will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will forever be remembered.
