Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Whitehall Garden Club News: October

It wasn't a particularly scary day, but the WGC members were met with a brunch table of ghoulish delights. Jayne Dean and Glenna Waltee collaborated and devised morning treats to make the monsters mash! Nothing like starting your morning off with a witch's finger, or a deviled bloodshot eye! What a treat but with more treats to come when the meeting was called to order.

President Kathy Ross introduced the first guest speaker, Heidi Austin, proprietor of the Healing Spot. Heidi's "Spot" offers a place to gather for a variety of reasons. One reason is enjoying the many different teas, medicinal and delicious, hearing possibilities about the health of your mind, body, and soul, and developing a friendship with Heidi and her expertise. Heidi, being a Reiki Master, offers Reiki therapy by appointment. What a wonderful "Spot" to visit and experience.

The meeting then resumed with a wonderful report about WGC's Pie-By-The-Slice and Pie Auction committee success. Thank you for all the donated pies, pie-eating participants, and volunteer time.

We were introduced to several guests waiting for the presentations to begin and welcomed a new member Joan Myhre.

To end our formal meeting, we were thrilled to have Arlene Weber as our final guest speaker. She led us on a wonderful pictorial excursion of the " Batholiths" found south of Helena and of Butte. Batholiths are created by nature as a mass of molten magma bubbling up and surrounding giant boulders. Through time, wind, ice, and heat, these unusual, awesome, weird-looking formations have been formed (although it is fun thinking about aliens having their hand in these creations) leaving us to marvel at each. Arlene's new book, A Photo Journey through the Boulder Batholiths, is available giving you directions on what to look for and maybe where! Thank you, Arlene, for giving us another reason to put our hiking shoes on!
