Whitehall Chamber Corner: Local Professional Gains Insight and Connections at the Fall MACE Conference

Chiara Schober, Executive Director of the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce, recently attended the Fall MACE (Montana Association of Chamber Executives) Conference hosted by the Helena Area Chamber of Commerce. Schober was awarded a prestigious $250 scholarship to help with the costs of attending this invaluable event.

The conference, held at the Montana State Fund Building, focused on enhancing chamber of commerce management. Keynote speaker Marissa McDonough, a Butte native, shared insights on "Being a Champion for the Chamber and Your Town." Attendees also discussed changing the narrative by moving the conversation from negative to positive and the importance of relationships with fellow chambers and peers.

Schober found McDonough's talk particularly inspiring and applicable to her work at the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce. "I can already see how I can apply these ideas to improve our chamber and the community," she noted. They also heard from Todd O'Hair with the Montana Chamber and Chris Eyler the U.S. Chamber VP Northwest Region.

In addition to informative sessions, Schober had the chance to network with fellow professionals who share her passion for the chamber of commerce activities. "I met some incredible people during the conference," Schober shared. "These connections will undoubtedly be beneficial for my work." The Fall MACE Conference provided valuable takeaways that Schober plans to implement in her role at the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce, including building on newfound connections.

In a stroke of luck, attendees were given tickets for participating throughout the conference to put into a raffle featuring gift baskets donated by local businesses. Schober walked away with a beautiful basket donated by Wild Child Collective in Helena.

The Montana Association of Chamber Executives' Fall MACE Conference continues to serve as a key platform for professionals to expand their horizons and careers. Schober's experience was transformative, and she looks forward to returning next Spring for another round of learning and growth.
