Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
On Sunday, September 10, it was my honor to participate in the inaugural Boulder Ideas Festival, hosted by The Boulder Monitor. This event featured innovators, leaders, artists, poets, and more.
The seven speakers invited by Editor Keith Hammonds included MJ Williams, a jazz trombonist and vocalist; John Adams, the Founder and Executive Director of Montana Free Press; one of my best friends Stevie Croisant, founder of We Are HER; Lisa Ernst, a ceramic artist; my neighbor and friend Vaia Errett, a writer and poet; Mike Korn, a folklorist and conservationist; and then...me.
I felt honored to be there, but also a bit out of place - I just have ideas, some are good, some are bad, and some never leave the depths of my often sleep-deprived mind. But I spoke on civic entrepreneurship, and how having one idea can spawn more and create change within a community. I had driven as fast as I could to get to the event, as my flight from a conference in Orlando, Florida had been canceled and I got into Bozeman VERY late; throughout my speech I felt like I was rambling incoherently. Thankfully and much to my surprise, people appreciated my talk and it resonated with them.
Now, the Boulder Monitor has put together most of the videos from that day (unfortunately, Vaia's had technical difficulties) and they are now available at https://bit.ly/48t6PS8. I urge you to check out all the amazing speeches that were presented that day and mark it on your calendar to not miss next year's event.
Thank you, Keith and The Boulder Monitor for inviting me to be amongst these other great minds.
