Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
It feels like fall, smells like fall, and looks like fall but I am still not ready for the seasons to change. To help me get in the mood for September, I have almost finished the September calendar.
There are programs for everyone and here are a few of the highlights set for next month:
• Rodger Richmond of Richmond Appraisal Service is doing a four-week antique appraisal for anyone who would like to discover what their treasures are worth. He will be in the Library from 5 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, September 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th. Patrons are asked to sign up for a slot and limit their appraisal items to two objects. There is no cost, but Roger is doing this as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Library and asks that those receiving his services make a donation to the Friends. To save your time slot, please call the Library at 287-3763. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
• There will be a four-week class on Google Basics for adults on Wednesdays at 2:30 PM. The class is limited to ten people and sign-ups are now open. This class will cover documents, applications, emails, and other requested areas. If the class fills then another session will be scheduled for those on the waiting list.
• The Holocaust Project will begin on the 28th of September at 6 PM. If you would like to join us, the discussion group is for middle and high school students, adults, educators, or anyone else who would like to join. Everyone reads a different Holocaust Book, either from our Holocaust collection or another library, and discusses it the next month. The Holocaust Project is also involved with the historical preservation of Holocaust letters and artifacts, educating the public about the Holocaust, hearing speakers and survivors share their testimonies, and more. If you would like more information stop by the front desk or call the Library at 287-3763.
We have had many homeschoolers and new homeschoolers attending our programs this summer. As a result, the Library will be offering two sessions of programs for older and younger students. These will include art classes, STEM activities, geography competitions, and more.
Thank you to everyone who made treats, brought cards, and attended the reception for Diane Ward. Everyone had a great time, and she was very pleased to see everyone. Terry Ross is our newest Library Board member from Whitehall along with John Moulton. Welcome aboard, Terry.
