Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Ward Installed as State President of Montana Federation of Garden Clubs

At the recent annual State Convention of the Montana Federation of Garden Clubs, Diane Ward of Whitehall was installed as State President.

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Diane grew up surrounded by beautiful gardens. English gardens and formal gardens were the norm. She moved to Montana in 2005 and found a very different environment! She joined the Whitehall Garden Club and gained valuable information on what does and what doesn't grow in Montana.

She served the Whitehall Garden Club in several positions including Secretary, Treasurer, and President. In the Montana Federation of Garden Clubs (MFGC) she has been a District Director for the Southwestern District, the State Recording Secretary, 2nd Vice-President, 1st Vice-President, and now the current State President for the years 2023 through 2025.

With her years of service in her local and state organizations, Diane wants to keep the flow of information from the national level to the local level. It is important to her that the public is made aware of the many events, projects, scholarships, programs, flower shows, and educational speakers that the state clubs offer. The National Garden Clubs and the Rocky Mountain Region Garden Clubs provide her with educational programs that she can communicate to her state Districts to share with their club members.

Her focus is Communication and Education. She would like to see a closer bond between the 24 Montana garden clubs. Since Montana is such a large state, this goal will be challenging.

Sharing experiences and problem-solving together can be successful and lasting experiences. Conditions are extreme from the north to the south and from the east to the west. We have common interests, no matter where we live. They are education and friendships.
