Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Dear Editor,
I'd like to clarify my comments regarding the Mountain Horizons Solar Subdivision, as paraphrased in the Ledger on April 19th. The "trailer park" comment came across as a snobby insult, and I apologize to the residents and developers of that subdivision. It wasn't meant quite that way.
The subdivision variance we were discussing will allow four single-family homes on a 0.65-acre lot that had been designated for one single- or multi-family home on a previous plan. My comment was that if the four new homes had identical floor plans, orientation, and spacing as the two recently-built homes adjacent to them (which is likely), it would look like a trailer park, since it would have the same layout - long narrow homes close together, without garages or fences.
My neighbors and I, just west of Mountain Horizons, fully support this development and affordable housing in general, including trailer parks - we simply have concerns about how the National Affordable Housing Network's original "vision" has gone by the wayside, and how it might affect our property values.
