Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 4/12/2023

By the time you are reading this, I will be in sunny Los Angeles with our Holocaust Project teens. They have been busy preparing for the Survivor/Rescuer Fair on April 20th. The evening will begin with a presentation by Cindy Busarow at 6 PM on her family's journey from Germany and those who did not escape. The Holocaust Project teens will represent a survivor or rescuer from the Holocaust and tell their stories as visitors stop at each exhibit. The program is free and open to the public starting at 7 PM. Come and see these amazing young people as they share what they have learned about people who defined the word courage.

This summer we are going to take a mystery adventure with the reading program. Readers will receive clues by reading a certain number of minutes which will then turn into prizes. The total mystery will be solved when everyone obtains enough clues to discover where the end-of-the-year party and store will be. Programs will cover types of detective work and puzzle solving, along with guest visitors. Watch for more clues here!

Homeschool Roundup will meet on Tuesday, April 11 at 2 PM. Any homeschooler is welcome to attend and network with other homeschoolers, participate in a fun activity and learn about the different styles of home education. This week we will be exploring the wooden craft traditions of Ukraine.

Ron Jung will be singing with everyone on Friday, April 14th at a special musical Storytime at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Preschoolers are invited to come and sing, play instruments, and enjoy musical stories. Ron has performed at the Christmas Stroll in the Library as well as many other venues. He is a favorite at Storytime, and we are happy to have him back.

The Jefferson County Library Board has a new member, Tammy Murray. We want to welcome her to the Library Board and look forward to exciting adventures ahead. Tammy has a background in education and currently drives for Whitehall Transportation. If you see her in Whitehall, make sure to say hi!

I also want to say thank you to Velda Bowman, who has served on the Library Board for a number of years. For those of you who don't know, the Board is an appointed position through the County Commissioners Office and a volunteer position. Those members do a lot of work and spend hours in meetings and training to help the libraries in both Whitehall and Boulder. Thank you all!!
