Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The Whitehall Baptist Church is once again hosting an Outdoorsman Night! Bring your family and enjoy an evening of food and friends, all in support of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department.
The event will be held at the Whitehall Community Center on Saturday, April 1. Doors open at 5:30 PM, with the fun beginning at 6 PM. Pre-registration cost is $20 per person and is available at wbcmt.org/outdoorsman. Tickets are $25 at the door. Kids 8 and under are free and are not eligible for certain ticket items in the raffle.
This is the second annual event, whose funds last year raised over $2500 for the Whitehall Veterans. The event, brought to the community by the Whitehall Baptist Church is meant to bring the community together in an effort to support and appreciate our local heroes, said Pastor Kyle Gilstrap.
"We are really wanting to honor the heroes of our town, and the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department is a perfect example of a hero," Gilstrap said. "We want to shine a light on volunteerism."
Truer words were never spoken, as the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department is entirely volunteer-driven and looking for more volunteers every day. The roster can hold 28, but there are only about 16 volunteers, with only 6-7 of those regularly active," fire chief Joe Granvold said.
"We call a lot of mutual aid from Butte, Twin, and Willow Creek because during the day we only usually have one or two volunteers available," Granvold added. The Outdoorsman Night hopes to shed a little light on this topic as well, hoping to get the department more volunteers interested.
The event will be catered by Dickey's BBQ and has an attendee cap of 250 - which attendance is quickly approaching.
Two-time World Champion elk caller and host of 'Shoot Straight' Chad Schearer will be on hand to discuss his outdoor adventures, as well as making the most of each moment with family, friends, and the community at hand.
This year's event has a huge addition with the announcement of an African safari being raffled off. This ten-day African safari adventure is for two people and will hunt for warthog, impala, zebra, and blue wildebeest. Valued at $9,500, one lucky attendee will be drawn to win.
In addition to the Safari raffle, several rifles, muzzleloaders, bows, ammo, and more will be raffled. Giveaways for the kids will include fishing poles, BB guns, and more.
Don't miss the Outdoorsman Night on April 1st at the Whitehall Community Center. There is a lot going on on April 1st and this event is no joke!
