Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
To the Residents of Whitehall,
A big warm thank you. We are so fortunate to live in this area with so many thoughtful people. Where shall I start? During the Christmas holiday season, we had visiting carolers – 4H groups of youngsters and their families, choir groups from churches, and just a small group of women from town. So wonderful to hear (and some even brought along delicious holiday cookies and candies.)
Then there were the lovely handmade Christmas and Valentine’s Day cards from the students of the Whitehall Elementary School. The Whitehall Rotary group sent each resident a box filled with delightful gifts and goodies and cards. Thank you.
Did you know we have wonderful musicians in the area? One group with two to six comes up here and brings ukeleles and guitars, along with their great voices (men and women), and they come every month or two. Also, occasionally, a visit from a semi-pro group.
There is a local beautician who comes nearly every month and offers trims and haircuts at a very reasonable price.
Can’t forget our local library who sends up with Velda, our manager, books, and DVDs she thinks we will enjoy.
For those of us who love Bible studies, one woman comes two or three times a week, and seven or eight women come weekly for the three or four residents who gladly join in. They also celebrate our birthdays with cakes. Some of them have come for years, and one began coming this year. Another woman whose been here from the beginning reads stories and sings songs with us. Some churches regularly visit their members here.
I know this 92-year-old brain has probably missed some other faithful visitors and helpers and for this, I apologize.
Oh yes, let me not forget local professional repairmen and other helpers who are so prompt to come and fix stuff here and our deceased friend, Dan Volz.
Two very important services I must mention: the Whitehall Public Transportation, which faithfully makes rides local twice a week available to our residents (even those in wheelchairs and walkers) as well as charged trips to Butte, Bozeman, Helena, or where needed. And then there is our Whitehall Ambulance Service, who come whenever called, sometimes transporting them to the hospital as needed or doing evaluations after falls.
My daughter said you can’t write all this and not mention the great staff here at the Manor, including our RNs. They are caring for us, cooking very nourishing meals, doing laundry, cleaning, and all with a great sense of humor and knowing each client’s needs. We are blessed!
