The criminal assault charges against James Piazzola stemming from a January 3, 1998 incident at the Mint Bar in Whitehall have been dismissed. State District Judge Frank Davis ruled on March 5 that felony assault charges against Piazzola originally dismissed on January 16 would remain dismissed and can never be refiled.
The 1998-99 Whitehall school budget, adult education, computer technology, and the old school demolition were among the topics discussed by the Whitehall Board of Trustees during the board’s regular monthly meeting.
Over 85 students participated in the Butte-Anaconda Accredited Music Teachers’ Spring Festival on March 7. There were five from Whitehall. They were Laura Dillon, Janet Drake, Anna Marx, Ashley Schoemaker (students of Donna Weldon), and Augie Brower (student of Eva Maxwell).
Whitehall Student of the Week was junior, Rob Sedlak. Rob was selected for his great work ethic in Vo-Tech. He is the son of Ales and Irena Sedlak and plans on attending college. Rob enjoys sports, computers, reading, and science.
Whitehall Athletes of the Week were those on the Lady Trojan volleyball team. The Whitehall Lady Trojans repeated as District 4-B Volleyball champions. The team entered the divisional tournament with a 20-1 season record. Whitehall went 4-0 at the district tournament.
