Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 3/8/2023

The Library received a lovely donation from the St. Teresa Parish CCW Women's Auxiliary this week. Bonnie Brown, Jayne Dean, Dannette Simon, and Celeste Shepard dropped by to share the proceeds of their hard work with us and take a tour of the Library. Thank you so much for the gift!

Montana news reporter, Mike Dennison, will be here on March 15th at 1 PM at the Library to discuss the Holocaust & Modern Media. Mike Dennison, a former chief political reporter for the Montana Television Network, spent the past three decades reporting on politics and public policy in Montana, for newspapers, television, and the wire services, and in 2019 released his new book, "Inside Montana Politics: A Reporter's View from the Trenches." He talks about the trends that have shaped the political landscape in Montana, including figures and events covered in his book, and how the media report on politics. His expertise will take a different turn as he discusses the effect of media and its influence during the Holocaust and in modern times. This program is free and open to the public.

Curiosity Untamed will be canceled on March 16th as our instructor will be unavailable. This is a wonderful program for memory retention, learning new ways to communicate, and more. Curiosity Untamed meets every Thursday afternoon at 2 PM.

Mystery Book Club will meet next Tuesday, March 14th at 5 PM, followed by Lit to Flic at 6 PM. This month Lit to Flic is reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. The book was first made into a movie in 1917. Newer versions were released in 1918, 1933, 1949, 1994, and 2019. They have starred famous actresses such as Katharine Hepburn, Winona Ryder, and Elizabeth Taylor. Masterpiece did a television version of the book in 2018.

Just a reminder that the IRS is no longer printing tax forms. All of the forms are on the IRS website at https://www.irs.gov. If you need help locating the site, just stop by the front desk and we will be glad to help you.

Don't forget to turn your clocks forward this weekend! It will be hard to get up in the morning, but it will be delightful to get home in the daylight, at least some of the week.
