Helping Hands Here to Assist in Personal Care

If you're looking for a little extra help around the house, with your medications, or with running errands, you might consider new area business Helping Hands Personal Care Service. Owner Haley Smith, LPN is excited to offer a variety of services to the Whitehall, Cardwell, and Ennis areas. Located in McCalister, though originally from Arkansas, Smith loves Whitehall like it is home.

"The more I'm here, the more I love it. Small communities are really lacking personal care service providers, and this is something I'm really passionate about," Smith said. Smith is in the area often, as her mother is located in Cardwell.

A nurse for over a decade and a bit jaded with the healthcare situation since COVID-19, Smith decided to develop Helping Hands to meet the area's needs while doing something she truly enjoys.

"Ever since COVID, it seems that care has just gone to the wayside. People are looking for someone to help them with their needs, someone who feels like family," she said.

Helping Hands is just that, "taking care of your family, like family" is the business' motto and mission. Smith is looking to team up with local organizations that might know locals in need of her services.

While a nurse, Smith cannot offer specific services yet, due to licensing restrictions.

"Anything that a doctor would order from a nurse, I can't do yet in-home, but I am open to anything else someone may need."

Services offered include meal preparation, medication reminders, housekeeping, hygiene assistance, ambulatory/transfer assistance, companionship, help setting up appointments, supervision, communication assistance, pet care, respite care, education and support to families, referrals, grocery store pickup, and medication pickup.
