Richard (Dick) J. Brown, went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. He was born on September 27, 1939, in Malta, Montana to Bert and Corrine (Ward) Brown. He lived in Malta, Montana working as a cowboy. In 1965 he moved to Butte, Montana where started a 30-year career working at Stauffer Chemical.
He married Rachel Lane and raised eight children: Malinda, Victoria, Sheila, Donnie, Tammie, Alan, Joe, and John.
After retiring from Stauffer Chemical, Dick and Rachel moved to Whitehall, Montana to continue their love of raising horses and the good simple life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bert Brown and Corrine (Ward) Brown, son Alan Brown, brothers Ward and Butch Brown, sisters Jean Barrett and Jo Griffith, son-in-law Ray Peirson, and granddaughter Nicole Hamill.
He is survived by his wife Rachel Brown, their children Chris and Malinda Cotton, Victoria Skelding, Sheila Peirson, Donnie Brown, Frank and Tammie Cotton, Joe and Char Moore, and John Brown. The couple had 22 grandchildren: Chris, Jessica, Tonisha, Jake, Robert, Joshua, Olivia, Elizabeth, David, Yolonda, Logan, Rachel, Heidi, Malinda, Matthew, Sarah, Heather, Kyle, Andy, Chad, Amanda, and Darian; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 11 AM at the Whitehall Assembly of God. Pastor Bill Lanes will officiate.
