Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The Whitehall Wrestling team finished their regular season at home with Senior Night. The team and school honored our 11 seniors and their parents. These wrestlers have shown leadership and skill this year and are looking forward to next week's Divisionals. Honored at the match with their parents were Captain Miles Hoerauf, Captain Leo Scafani, Captain Dane Hoover, Karson Klapan, Blake Ritz, Gavin Watson, Blake DuBois, Kyle Denny, Michael Reiff, Nick Denny, and manager Addi Sullivan.
Butte High was able to bring some of their wrestlers as well as Manhattan for an evening full of wrestling. While team scores weren't kept, Whitehall ended the evening with an overall 22-8 record. Individual results started with Klapan earning a first-period pin. Harrison sophomore Cassidy Collins lost her match, eighth-grader Gunner South had three matches, one win by pin and two losses. Junior Isaac Skogen showed his skill with two wins. Sophomore Sam Valov earned high-point for the night, earning 13 points in his first match but still losing 13-17. He won his second match with a first-period pin. Junior Reilly Slater had the most mat time, winning his first match with a third-period pin and losing his second 6-8. Sophomore Cody Fuller and Harrison junior Ivar Ratcliffe continue to dominate the 132 lb weight class with two wins each. Hoover showed his leadership pinning both his opponents. Ritz split his matches with a first-period pin and a loss. Junior Wesley Biggers won his first match and then showed family dominance by pinning his Butte cousin. Watson and K. Denny finished Senior Night in style with two wins each. DuBois lost his matches. Sophomore Ethan Wock pinned his opponent. Scafani had little difficulty winning his match by pin and Hoerauf showed his style with a pin-by-leg cradle. This weekend the team travels to Pablo to compete in Divisionals, the qualifying tournament for State.
