Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Tickets Available for Lecture by Nobel Peace Prize Winner

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at all Bobcat ticket outlets for the Feb. 22 lecture at Montana State University by Dmitry Muratov, a Russian journalist who received the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to safeguard freedom of speech and expression.

The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Strand Union Building ballrooms. Muratov will speak about freedom of speech, the Russia-Ukraine war, and his experiences risking his life for journalistic integrity in the face of government opposition.

Carmen McSpadden, director of the MSU Leadership Institute, which is hosting the event, said this is an exciting opportunity for MSU and the Bozeman community to hear directly from Muratov, who raised $103.5 million to benefit Ukrainian child refugees by auctioning his Nobel medal.

“Even more inspiring is the bravery that earned him the honor – that is, his newspaper exposed billions of dollars of Russian government corruption, extrajudicial killings, and human rights abuses,” McSpadden said.

Tickets to the MSU lecture are $8 for students and $18 for members of the public. Tickets are available at the Bobcat Ticket Office, ticketswest.com, or montana.edu/leadership. Convenience fees apply for sales online or over the phone.

Muratov’s lecture is sponsored by MSU’s Office of the President, Office of the Provost, Associated Students of Montana State University, Alumni Foundation, College of Letters and Science, Division of Student Success, Dean of Students, Honors College and Office of International Programs, as well as by Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply, Bozeman Daily Chronicle, University of Montana School of Journalism and First Interstate Bank.
